Michael Newberry was born in La Jolla, California in 1956. He studied fine art at U.S.C. and at the Free Academy Psychopolis in The Hague, Holland. Since selling his first works at seventeen years old, he has had studios in California, Holland, Rhodes (Greece), and New York. He creates figurative, landscape, still life, and interior paintings. His recent works include the completion of Venus (2008) and a series of landscapes of Greece, Mexico, and California (2008-9). He has also written art criticism, mentored artists, and in 2009 he opened the Newberry Gallery in Santa Monica.
